Extreme Makeover:
Support Our Troops Edition
TJB Homes established The TJB Dream Build Give, Inc. Foundation with the purpose in mind to give back to the community!
In January the foundation did a mini-makeover in Oak Grove.
The project roots go back to last October when Tom Budzynski received an e-mail from Shelli Markgraf, who asked about a military donation.
Markgraf's husband, Terry, is currently serving his second tour of duty in Iraq with the U.S. Army National Guard 34th Infantry "Red Bulls" from Rosemount.
"We desperately need three windows in the back of our house," Markgraf wrote Budzynski.
"I can afford to buy the windows but the installation labor is very expensive, They are rotted on the outside.
I don't even want to try to paint them. The wood is so bad I'm afraid to even look up there to see how bad they are."
About a month ago, Budzynski said he visited the Markgraf home and scouted things out.
Rick Budzynski, Vice President of TJB Remodeling, noted the challenges in a project like this.
"The weather was very cold, so the window and door replacements had to be done as reasonably fast as possible.
Remodeling is in many ways more difficult than new construction.
You're dealing with unknown quality of construction and potential problems unseen until the project starts.
When you remove old windows you do not know if you wind find mold issues or other structural problems in the framing that need to be
repaired in order to do a quality installation."
The TJB crew was joined by workers from Minnesota Exteriors, Inc.
The windows were replaced, along with the front door and bathroom ceiling fans.
All of the Oak Grove mini-makeover work was completed under the auspices of the TJB Dream Build Give, Inc. Foundation, Budzynski said.
